2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
SN# pq0721-760831
1 year old Trojan 12v x 4 Does not seem to have regen braking working at speed. Will beep if pushed from a stop. Cart was a personal cart and is in very nice condition. Looking to get 20 mph from this cart. I have looked over the forum a bit already and raised more questions than answers for me (newbie) Will just a magnet get me there? CC reprogramming? SPEED CODE 5 PROGRAMMER? Bandit mtr? Do I need to check pedal sensor or speed sensors out? Thanks!! I would like to keep the cost under 300.00 if possible. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
Man I was all ready to post until seen $300 limit. If $50 magnet gets you 20mph it will be on a 3mile stretch of downhill road. Cables and unlock controller seem to be the first things to do but that will cost you 300. The new line of XCT controllers are a game changer as far as I'm concerned but they are expensive. Best advice I can give is to call David at Revolution or Scotty at CartsUnlimited. They are best to put you on right track and not waste your $$

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
The 4x12V thing is going to be the limiting factor that holds you back as they just dont have the overall amp output that 6x8V have. And high speed magnet is the exact same thing as unlocking controller with CC codes. I would install a magnet and you may gain a mph or 2 but unless the 12V's are T1275 and fresh off the shelf you wont be hitting 20mph. The magnet is cheap so I would do that and save your money to upgrade your tub to 6x8V and then you will have more options down the road with higher amp controllers or PQ bandit that can supply sufficient amp output from batteries to motor without killing the batteries quickly like they would 4x12V's.
BTW...if your only getting 10mph and no regen braking then most likely speed code will have to be bumped up and regen turned on with handheld programmer that your local dealer or someone who repairs carts in your area will have. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
Not saying his batts are good but the 4x12 setup is what both my precedents have. Streetcart has 3yr old Trojans and runs 24-26mph. Lifted cart has 1yr old Interstate batts and the cart will run 36-38 when the XCT is unlocked but I have limited to 26-27mph. I understand everyone's runtime concerns with the 4x12 setups but I choose to run them so I can use 4bank marine chargers. I know you can get speeds you want with 4x12 setup, just not sure you can get there under $300

OK so lets up the pot a little and what is the best way to get there. I would like a reliable upgrade and really anything 20-25 would be just fine. I run this at an airport so its all flat and paved.

David or ScottyB can tell you best way to get there within whatever budget you have. I like my setups but there's nothing cheap about them

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
Because your budget is very tight, and you are fortunate to have a "PQ" serial number, there is a magnet/kit out there called "Speed Code 5" (Google it for details) - and read THIS FORUM LINK.
It should get a stock PQ cart "just thru" the 21mph barrier. With the remaining money, buy a good full set of 4ga. cables (the factory ones are 6ga.).,,,which may allow you to creep toward 22mph territory. Of course the above statement assumes: 1) Your battery pack measures above 50 volts (measured 12 hours after a charge with charger disconnected). 2) Your tires are properly inflated 3) Your brakes aren't dragging There is likely something else not working on your cart, though - because EVEN GENERIC golf course settings (usually code 3) - show 13-14 mph...so something seems to be amiss. BTW - Anything nearing 25mph is a lot more costly. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
Just looking into the 10mph issue. I followed info from the sticky for speed sensor test and the cart will brake and beep when pushed.
I tried to reset the OBC following the sticky instructions after locking the pedal down I could not get the rev buzzer to buzz. Had the pedal down for 10 minutes and nothing. Re connected and the cart runs as before. Good grunt to 6 or so then up to 10 and just holds 10mph. No more. FYI the batteries are Trojan 1275 and a quick check was at 50v and that was on yesterdays charge and a few runs around the airport today. Any other tests I can do? |

Is it possibly 8mph? If so a shorted solenoid could do that. The cart would be in "limp" mode then which I believe limits you to 8mph.

If nothing else is wrong with your cart a Plum Quick motor should get you close to 25 MPH on flat ground. About $300 with two way shipping.
