EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
I have an early 80's Electric Marathon that will not move but will lurch every now and then. I have tinkered with it all day checking the solenoid, microswitches, forward/reverse switch and have found nothing wrong. Would a bad resistor coil cause this?? Did not want to order one until I got some advice??

Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
Well, considering that rust will cause higher resistance as you are losing some of that little metal bar that transfers the current. They are cheap anyway, throw a new one on and see if it helps......it certainly couldn't hurt.

MOst likely the problem is in poor contact on the speed wiper board located at the end of the throttle linkage. There are large copper contacts and a moving copper contact on an arm moves across the stationary ones. check the condition and fitment of the wiper and stationary contacts. Clean them up with sandpaper and file. |

Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
If it's real bad you can buy new contact buttons and wiper arm. It's probably the biggest trouble spot in the system

Re: EZ GO Marathon Resistor Coil
Does the solenoid always click when you give it gas and it's not moving?
