'89 Marathon.....no reverse?

Had this cart a couple of months. Guy I got it from said he'd put a new F/R switch in it. Almost immediately I had problems going into reverse. I found if I tightened the nut on the switch, it would work. Forward always worked.
The other day, the old style resistor/wiper board shorted out. Replaced the board. Seemed to run OK forward, no reverse. I disassembled the switch and it does look fairly new. There was some minor pitting on one of the contacts, but didn't seem enough not to run. I notice the rotating portion's are spring loaded, and the main shaft tightens the contacts against the studs/connectors. There are no microswitches on this. Is there something else I should be checking?

something isn't making contact, because all it does is reverse the s1 and s2 . It's got to just be out of adjustment or out of wack. You said it had worked after tightening something up, or i would have said there is a wire on backwards. There is a diagram in the sticky, The switch most likely isn't making contact somewhere. I would Pull it out and go through it myself. My 90 had microswitches. HAD.
