Default Wheels and tires

My cart has a dual purpose. We actually use it playing golf but I am going to get the road permit and drive it uptown. What size wheel and tire do I need for the best torque and speed while completely stock, but I also plan on gathering speed with upgrades. So, I don't want to do things twice.

Our course has some pretty good inclines on a few holes and there are a few hills on the road that I live on. So, later, it can't be all about speed. Also, I don't want it lifted.

While I am asking questions, where is the best place to buy the wheels and tires?

First of all, check your local state requirements for being street legal. Some states have a minimum speed requirement, others have a max. See if you're already good, get your tag, then go crazy.

You can upgrade to a 205/50-10 with no lift.Check your laws,they may require DOT-approved tires,some do,some don't care.

So, I don't need to go any bigger than 10"?

What about the freedom speed chip? Is that the speed chip that I need?

Unless your local laws are different, SC DMV doesn't care.. You have to have insurance and then go get your sticker from the DMV. $5 for 5 years, up to 4 miles from your residence on secondary roads..

I live in the big city of McCormick. What is your opinion on the freedom chip and 10" wheels? I am wanting to buy some this weekend and need to know if I need to stick with stock or is 10" better or what? I also take it the golf course.

10" wheel size is completely irrelevant. Tire size is the only thing that matters. It's all about diameter/circumference.

Yep,most stock carts will "squeeze" a 19" tall tire.Any bigger and they will rub.

Chris.b, some depends on which ezgo you have. My gas RXV is running 14s with 21 inch tires. The txts with no lift have 205/50-10s but have run 12s with a similar tire.

As previously mentioned, in and of itself, wheel size doesn't effect speed or torque, it is the tire's diameter (height) alters them.

The stock tire height is about 18" and a taller tire will increase the cart's speed, while reducing the torque where the rubber meets the road and a shorter tire will increase torque while reducing speed.

What drive system do you have? A "speed chip" only works in a PDS.

If you have a PDS, a speed chip will get you about 18-19 MPH on stock height tires, The torque is the same in all four PDS modes.

Also, check with your local golf courses, turf tires may be required.

You can upgrade your cart to do many things, but not all of them at the same time.
