Wiring to LED switches to run accessories
I'm trying to figure out how to wire LED switches. I am going to run an accessory deep cycle marine/RV battery to a 6 fuse block with Buss. And I'm going to use a trickle charger via (cig lighter) accessory plug for accessories and charging, directly to battery. So obviously need (+) running to all switches and (+) from all switches to accessories (lights, Light bar, and LED light strip, etc...). But can I run a single (-) lead from the battery to one switch and jump to the other 4 switches for (-)? And I would have to run (-) leads directly to all the accessories from (-) buss. Right?! Any help would be awesome. I don't want to run any redundant wires. Thanks in advance.

If you are referring to the switch illumination, then yes, you can daisy-chain from one switch to the next, for the switch illumination. Your 12V accessories on the other hand, need to ground to the battery or ground BUS thats fed with suitable gauge cable.

Re: Wiring to LED switches to run accessories
Yeah you've pretty much covered it... As to the neg side of the indicator light yes you can jump from one switch to the next as the only thing your doing is powering a tiny pilot light. As to the neg going to your equipment if your running a buss then by all means run one wire per piece of equipment as that will make future trouble shooting a very simple job. The same applies to the pos side buss and switches while neither is absolutely needed it sure makes trouble shooting a simple task....
Truthfully this is what I've done with my cart in that I've installed both a pos and neg buss bar closest to the number 1 & 6 batteries and lifted all smaller leads to them to keep the connections at my batteries clean and simple. Then under my dash I've installed a smaller version on the output of my 48/12 power converter.... |
