new battery
i have trojan t105 batteries in 2008 ezgo txt cart. bought all 6 in 2013. cart kept loosing charge quickly when driving. check batteries and found cells dead in one of the 2013 batteries. decided to replace the battery with a exide gc115g from rural king. cart runs better. by question is will this cause any problem with the controler or motor. and will there be any complication with the other batteries (trojan t105).

Re: new battery
well......the battery you chose has a slightly lower AH rating than the T-105.....so your pack is going to get a little unbalanced, you really needed to get another T-105 or at least a battery that had the same AH rating. but NO it won't cause any problems with the controller or motor......just the overall life of the pack.
Your battery has a AH rating of 186 Amp/20 Hour rating. The T-105 is rated at 225 Amp/20 Hour |

Re: new battery
I special ordered my Exide GC-145 batteries through Rural King.
I can't find any specs of a GC-115G on the Exide website, but RK lists them as having a 110 minute capacity @75A, which 2/3 the way between a T-605 (105 min @75A - 210AH) and a T-105 (115 min @75A - 225AH), so that would make them roughly 220AH. Your T-105 batteries are about a year old and have lost some of their 225AH storage capacity, so a 220AH battery might be pretty close. The new Exide will need a few charge cycles to reach its full storage capacity, so you might see some run-time improvement. The Exide 100% SoC voltage is slightly higher than Trojan, so you'll be slightly undercharging it when charged in series with 5 Trojan batteries, but it is so close that it should matter too much. The thing to remember is the new battery will quickly assume the age characteristics of the older batteries, so it will have to be replaced when the other batteries are replaced. Basically, you'll be sacrificing about a year of the Exide's potential lifespan, but other than that, it ought to work just fine. |

Oh well, It will work for a little while. Exide tends to name their batteries on the capacity minutes @75A, so I wonder if R-K has the correct AH rating? |
