Not running after refilling water
I have a 48v Ezgo with Crown batteries. The batteries are less t han a year old. Cart was running fine yesterday. Charged overnight. I drove it out of the garage and refilled the batery water. Also, I ended up overfilling the batteries. Imediately after filling the cart will not move. The silenoid is clicking, but wheels not turning. No components appear to be wet. The lights still turn on. The batteries were making a bubbling/hissing noise. Any idea what I should do?

Re: Not running after refilling water
Did you use distilled water or tap water?
What is the battery pack voltage and individual battery voltages. Were the batteries on charge when the hissing occurred? |

Distilled
6 batteries x 8 volts On the charge. I tried hooking it back up for a few minutes after this happened. |

Re: Not running after refilling water
Break out the DVM and measure the battery pack voltage and individual battery voltages.
Bubbling (aka gassing) while on charge is normal. What year cart and which drive system? |

Re: Not running after refilling water
I have a house in the woods that I keep the cart and of course I have no DVM here. Headed home tomorrow will bring one back with me Friday. It is a 92 36v converted to 48v, upgraded motor solenoid. Not sure of the exacts, I bought it like this.
It didn't seem like low voltage, it doesn't even try to move |

Re: Not running after refilling water
Looks like you have a Marathon body style, which has a series drive and a 0-5kΩ throttle (aka pot-box), but has been upgraded to 48V and has a reversing contactor and a D&D motor. Cannot read label on motor, but it is ventilated, so it might be a 170-008-0001.
Are the reversing contactor's solenoids clicking? One should click in Forward and the other in Reverse. Maybe a control wire got bumped while filling the batteries. That mile long red cable going to the main solenoid needs to be shortened or replaced. ------------ Quick and dirty troubleshooting. Connect DVM between the controller's B- and M- terminals. Press pedal just far enough to make solenoid(s) click and you should read full battery pack voltage (50.4V when fully charged). If not, there is an open someplace in the high amp circuit. Start checking the voltage on the thick cables until you find the missing voltage. |

Re: Not running after refilling water
Solenoid clicking in reverse and forward. B- and M- jumping to 50.7 when gas pushed

Quote:
Slowly press the pedal to the floor and the voltage between b- and M- ought to smoothly decrease to 0V. If not, either the throttle or the controller is bad. Pull the two wires from the pot-box and measure between the loose wires with and Ohmmeter. You should get close to zero Ohms when pedal is up and about 5,000Ω when pedal is down. |

Re: Not running after refilling water
So, I started testing M- & B- pushing the pedal slowly and all of the sudden it started going. It seems to be runnig fine. I do not understand?
