88CC 16hp clone build throttle linkage problem
Hey guys, this is my first thread on the forum. A neighbor gave me his non-running 88 CC DS. His kids put 2 cycle gas through it 4yrs ago so he parked it and got tired of tripping over it in his garage.
So after scouring this forum and seeing several clone builds, I ordered a 16hp elect start powemax. I'm looking for some advice on how to set up the throttle. I'm mocking it up now and it looks like the black box is going to hit the intake. BTW, I already removed the governor and tapped the shaft for the pulse so now there's no way to use the governor arm to attach a linkage. Any advice/pics appreciated. |

BigBlock, thanks for the pics. Like they say... a picture speaks a thousand words.
By flipping the black box around and mounting it higher, how are you getting the accel rod and pivot arm to mate up? Did you have to enlarge the hole in the crossmember and lenghthen the rod? |

Re: 88CC 16hp clone build throttle linkage problem
Good thinking on the allthread. The pivot arm is a custom piece though so you'd have to weld an extension on the bottom side to meet the new threaded rod.
Here's some pics of the underside of my cart showing the brake assy. Notice that I extended the front carriage bracket at the crossmember 2" to allow for a better leveled engine due to the rear lift and HD springs. Now that I think about it, that's why the black box is hitting my intake higher than yours. Oh well... still wouldnt matter. |

I did one of those and tossed the black box away. Was nothing in there I needed and that left the throttle wide open to modification....

Re: 88CC 16hp clone build throttle linkage problem
My clone was a 91 CC. you can see I removed the black box and made a little pivoting piece of throttle to reverse the gas peddle rod push to a spring pull.... You have to get creative with these things and it is a bit of trial and error..... anyway, here was one way. Post pics of what you guys come up with
