I have a few basic suggestions. I am no way an expert on these engines, but here is what I would check into:
1. Check and make sure the correct amount of oil in in the motor. Not overfilled.
2. Make sure no oil residue may be left in the exhaust manifold. I suspect you did this already.
3. Check the fuel pump. The crankcase/pulse line provides the "pressure" to have the pump pull fuel from the tank and into the carb. As it ages, the diaphragm can become compromised and allow "blowby" aka oil pass into the fuel.
4. Not sure about this, but could the valve guide seals be worn and thus allow oil into the combustion chamber. Not sure if this engine has those??

Someone with more knowledge on these motors will check in.....

My G9 did the same thing, it took about 15-20 minutes to burn out the oil from the muffler. I replaced mine with one from Plowman's just to be safe.. Heard how the stock exhaust makes them run hot..
