Default Brake options for a G2

I've got a rough G2 that I finally got running again thanks to CP241's help with the Chrysler ignition.

Now I need to focus on brakes. I have almost no stopping power...literally. I haven't tried adjusting, or even inspecting what I have (yet). I plan to tear into them next week.

However, When pricing everything out, it seems counterintuitive to repair the drums when I can put front discs on it for not much more.

With that said, what are my brake options?
Jake's front disc (hydraulic)
Ausco rear disc (cable)

Am I missing anything?

To me the drums and shoes are simple and easy to work on... unless you need more power. Never had a problem replacing shoes in one.

Replacing worn drums with new ones helped me a lot...

The first thing to do is make sure they are adjusted properly and the cables and levers on both sides move as they should.

The drum brakes work quite well when properly adjusted. It would be much cheaper to fix the OEM brakes than try to do a conversion.

The drum brake setup works fine, when adjusted properly. That being said, I have ausco disc brakes on mine, and they work great.

I must add. Use OEM brake shoes, not aftermarket crappy ones.

A full 4 wheel disc brake conversion is about $800.00 - you have to be a machinist cause you have to make or modify parts. Jake's brake components come from WilWood Brakes, I bought 2 rear calipers with parking brakes, Made my own caliper support brackets. I setup the cables and handle for the parking brake and rebuilt the rear braking system. I already have Jake's front brakes so half the work is done. I used a WilWood tandem master cylinder with 2 lb residual pressure valves to pump it up. This is an extreme setup but can show you there are other options if you want them bad enough. I wanted to stop without dragging a wheel - like with 2 wheel unbalanced braking. I actually had a timing when you stepped on the brakes to hard and you went faster.

That's a nice setup! Bit pricey for my old rig, but a nice setup nevertheless.

Is there a stock kit sold that has everything I'll need?

Or do I have to piece it together?
