Re: Possible Bad Microswitch in ITS?
OK so I am getting 0 voltage between B- and M- (switch on, F/R in F, pedal till click)
but I am getting voltage on all four posts on the F/R.... I am totally about to lose my mind... I checked the motor for continuity and I have continuity between S1 and S2 but NOT between A1 and A2...shouldnt I have continuity between A1 and A2???? I think this is causing me to lose continuity at my F/R switch on my outside post. |

Here is the checkout for a stock series motor. Set your VOM to RESISTANCE (Ω). To test the resistance of VOM leads, please touch the meter leads together. Subtract this measurement from each test below to get your true measurement. With motor disconnected, measure A1 to A2. This should measure approximately BETWEEN .2Ω and 2Ω. With motor disconnected, measure S1 to S2. This should measure approximately BETWEEN .8Ω and 3Ω. With motor disconnected, measure A1 to F1. This should measure OPEN. With motor disconnected, measure F1 to motor case. This should measure greater than 5MΩ. (5MΩ = 5,000,000Ω) Technically the actual resistance between A1 & A2 as well as the resistance between S1 & S2 is far less than the values listed, but the listed values are what are typically read on the Ohmmeters we usually use. A Milli-Ohmeter or is needed to get a true value. |

Re: Possible Bad Microswitch in ITS?
I went back and corrected it.
The stationary windings are usually referred to as the Stator in series motors and the Field in sepex motors so the terminals are typically labeled S1/S2 on series motors or F1/F2 on sepex motors, but not always. Worst example is the stock DCS motor, a sepex motor whose field terminals are labeled S1 & S2, causing all sorts of confusion. |
