The red wire that goes on the big post is the same red wire that was on the big post originally. If you lost track it is the red wire with the BIG ring terminal.
Some solenoids use rings and some spade connectors so yes you may need to change wire connectors if going from one to the other.

So only 1 red wire goes on the big post?
