Default 1999 CLUB CAR DS RPN Replaced - Cutting out now

Narrowed the issue with the cart not running down to the RPM REV limiter, replaced it, now it throttles up then cuts out dramatically. Any suggestions?

Been messing with the governor at the rear and front, no luck.

thanks

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It was larger than the OEM, so we mounted it on the frame instead of under the engine. Could this be the problem?

Disconnect it and see if that solves your problem. If it does then replace it with an oem unit from revolution golf cars.

Yes, when it's disconnected it works fine. Well, it runs like a bat out of hell. Is there any danger in running the cart without the limiter?

Thanks for tip, i'll order from Revolution.

Aftermarket parts are junk, particularly ignition parts.

As for danger, that all depends. If your governor is in good working order and you drive reasonably then it is generally fine without the rev limiter. If you drive like a madman then you’ll probably see the counterbalance weight come through the back of the motor before too long. Those are usually the first thing to fail in these engines.

Stock cart and stock tires, you can usually get to around 18-20mph as long as the belt and clutches are in good working order. If you’re pushing any faster than that, it’s asking for problems. Sure, it’ll DO it but for how long…

Me personally, I’d replace it with another oem unit and not have to worry about it.

OEM part did not fix the issue. The cart revs up dramatically to high RPM then it cuts off. As the RPM's back down, it picks up again then shuts right off as RPM's increase, on and off, on and off.

Any help would be appreciated....

How do your clutches look? Belt condition? Is this in neutral or while you’re driving it down the road? How fast are you going when it cuts out?

Your throttle and governor are set wrong. It sounds like the RPM limiter is doing exactly what it's intended to do: keep the engine from over revving.

Belts and clutch are good.

This is in neutral and when driving it down the road. It starts cutting out pretty quick.

We made several adjustments to the throttle linkage and the governor, at the moment, the only way we can get the cart to run and not have the RPM limiter shut it down is at a very slow crawl. It barely makes it up a hill. I can walk faster uphill than this cart will go now.

Going to have to keep adjusting I guess.
