Arcing
I upgraded my battery cables on my 2017 club car precedent 48 volt cart. I started at the negative and went the whole way around taking each cable off one at a time and replacing it with the new one. I get to the putting the positive cable on last and I get a nice arc. Kinda freaks me out. I’ve replaced batteries in electric manlifts and never had that before. Any clues? Thanks

Re: Arcing
If there's a Voltage Reducer, they arc when you connect them.

Re: Arcing
Scared the crap out of me the first time it happened with my Yamaha. There is a big capacitor in the voltage reducer that causes a big spark when you connect it to power after it's been disconnected for any amount of time.

Re: Arcing
When swapping batteries in a 17 Precedent the Run / Tow switch has to be in Tow or you will get a strong arc.

Re: Arcing
You should ALWAYS have the run/tow switch in TOW before working on your cart PERIOD!

Re: Arcing
You can do this posted by Sergio a while back...It works...
You can use a 40w or 60w incandescent light bulb (old school inefficient ones), just touch the base of the bulb on the battery post and the wire on the light bulb threads. After about 5-10 seconds the converter capacitors should be charged so you can move the wire to the battery post without a spark. The bulb acts like a resistor... |

Re: Arcing
Or just expect and put up with the spark.
