290 Exhaust retrofit to a 350?
I am replacing a fe290 engine with a hole in the block. I have a 350 engine that will drop in, but I am hearing that the exhaust from the 290 will not bolt up properly to the 350(haven't pulled the old engine yet). Any thoughts on this? Are there any adapters or spacers that will make it work? By the way, it's going in a 1999 DS.

Re: 290 Exhaust retrofit to a 350?
I did one here where the stud spacing on the head was the only difference, So I slotted the flange on the exhaust system added some washers, bolted it up and all was good.

Re: 290 Exhaust retrofit to a 350?
The exhaust pipe is a bit smaller too if I remember correctly, and the flange. The flange should be an easy fix and I really don’t think the pipe will make a big difference.
I’d use the 290 gasket since it will align with the studs properly. |
