Default Powerwise charger question

Can you use a 3mf 400 or so volt cap in place of the 3mf 600volt cap on a 36volt Powerwise 2 charger.
If not why, the incoming volts is nowhere near 600v???

Not a good idea. I can't explain why but the manufacturer knows something we don't. A better choice would be a 3 Mfd @ 1000 volts.

Thanks Radioman. I agree with you. But it is an interesting question.

Maybe one of our resident Gurus can answer it.

IT is possible that there are higher voltages present even though the input voltage isn't that high. Manufacturers usually don't use caps that are way overspeced for voltage but sometimes they use what's available. But If I had to guess, I would think a 400V cap would be ok.

Thumbs up Re: Powerwise charger question

Thanks Volt_Ampere for the opinion. I just hate not understanding something like that. With my limited knowledge in electronics it doesn't seem to add up.
I don't see that kind of voltage happening from 120 or 36 volts.
Anyway, it is what it is.
