engine break disable
I have a 02 ez go and would like to disable the factory engine brake. Does anyone know how? Or is there a piece to buy I've been told several different things but in the end nobody knows how... Thanks

Re: engine break disable
Your in the electric forum, try the gas ezgo forum....but either way there is no engine brake. There is a governor though.

Re: engine break disable
Are you asking about electronic braking from the motor? This is called regen or regenerative braking. Aftermarket controllers like Alltrax eliminate the regen. Some aftermarket motors eliminate regen also. I guess they work with the stock controllers? I'm not 100% sure about that, you could call an aftermarket motor company like PQ and ask.
You can also put a freedom chip in your stock controller and this will eliminate the regenerative braking. |

Re: engine break disable
I have a 36 volt cart.. I've heard you can make a jumper wire to trick it. When my cart was lifted with big wheels and tires I didn't have this problem, but I've put it back to stock height with stock wheels and new battery's an now it has a brake or governor slowing it down when going down a hill

Re: engine break disable
Going from tall tires to stock height tires means the motor spins faster while cruising or coasting at any given MPH.
So there would be more mechanical drag coasting down hills, but I have no idea how much or how noticeable it would be. In any case, it is a direct drive, so it is what it is. |

Re: engine break disable
Is there a Run/Tow toggle switch on the controller cover under the passenger seat? If so, your cart is not a 2002 model with a lever for F/R. If no toggle switch, your cart is a Series style drivetrain and has no motor braking.
