Safe amount to tweek the governor 98 Freedom
I gave up on the Marathon for now anyway and bought a like new Freedom and it is slow to the point of being annoying. It actually seems like as the belt gets near the top the rpms drop. I searched some and found a couple threads on tightening that nut on the cable. My question is that the best way to increase speed and what is a safe amount. I do have access to a photo-tach. but if I could get by with out it would be easier.
Thanks |

Tightening the spring but not bypassing the gov is the safest way for speed. Adjust a little at a time til you're happy with it.

Safest and best way for speed is lift and taller tires. (just a thought)
