I know very little about newer carts but if it works like the older carts the carb is spring loaded in the full open position so the gas pedal being pushed allows the throttle to open. Yours may be hooked up wrong.

I was having the same issue with my '76 cart. I'm just guessing, but your's may be similar...

On mine, the throttle cable slides into a ferrule on the carb throttle linkage that is locked by tightening a set screw. To set it, loosen the set screw, pull the carb throttle linkage (by hand) all the way - this actually closes the butterfly - then tighten the set screw. The throttle cable holds the butterfly closed when the pedal is not pressed, and then allows the butterfly to open as it is pressed.

My problem was that the butterfly was set partially open, so when I pressed on the pedal and the microswitch allowed the engine to start, the engine wanted to accelerate immediately since the butterfly was not closed or nearly closed.

It may sound complicated, but it's really not. I just can't think of a better way to describe it.

well was working on my 94 Par Car today and trying to figure out why he was so sensitive that made it buck jump at slow speed. but it just wouldn't go slowly. what I found on the alternator was that the cable plate bolt in the bottom of the alternator dropped out so the plate that holds the thtottle cable and the other two cables was just floping around. Anyway now it's running much better still got a little bit of an issue at slow speed but I'm working on it. I think it may need a new throttle cable I'm looking for a place to buy one if anybody can recommend a good place I would appreciate the information
