Default WARNING : Jakes kit on a 1981 G1

Just a warning for anyone that has a 1981 G1, Jakes kit will NOT work without some modifications to the spindle . As, the steering arms and spindles are one piece on an 81' .The steering arms are not bolted on with two bolts like the later years.
Just an FYI , luckily I have a full machine shop and can modify and weld the spindles up like ther are suppose to be.
Also the king pin pipe on the end of the A-arms are .200 shorter on the Jakes kit vs the OEM.
Raz

BTW: I have talked with Jakes twice today and one more call is on the way. They seem like very nice people.

Great post ! I always ask for the serial number on any G1. 1979 to 1981 had changes to front suspenssion components/soilenoids/wire harness and several other components. 1982 wasa a one year "lower compression engine", but from 1983 and up...pretty much the same. Glad to hear you have the capabilty to make it work. What is the installation sheet say about the primary clutch "hitting" the main frame with this lift kit ? Have you found a problem there ? Pictures would be great for the next member. Later Dave

It says that some models may require to clearance the frame .Luckily, I think mine is going to be ok as it does not rub as of right now.I will have to see after I get the front done just to make sure, you know weird things can happen.
So, you guys want pics of the spindle and the machining/welding that is involved ?

Got the lift done today , I also had to cut some of the front A-arm bracket in order to let the A-arm move down into the position it needs to run in order to get my caster and camber correct.
Here are also some pics of the stereo that we installed today.

Also, with the 22" tires on it, my top speed went from 16mph to 22 mph. Is this pretty good for a cart with the governor still installed ?
Thanks,
Raz
