My first Yamaha G1 Lift and Swap 16HP Duromax
Hello all. Newb here trying my hand a build thread. I just traded some guy on CL for this 1981? Yamaha G1. He did the lift kit himself. Unfortunately he was no engineer. I am not saying I am, just sayin. I was stock with an 11 HP motor that had very little power. No low end. No top. Nothin. I took it to my shop and drove it around the street. It seemed to hang up whenever the wheel was turned. I got off and turned the steering wheel and noticed it was bending his angle iron lift brackets into the tires. A little more work than I had hoped but should be fun. I pulled the motor and clutch and I am putting them up for grabs. PM me for info. After i pulled the motor i had a good view of the Cushioned engine mount bracket he made. I wanna say its a rubber hose cut into 2x2 inch pieces with a hole threw them. hummm... okay. A few bought and flipped projects later I picked up a ezgo electric from another swap on CL. he had it complete with a Druomax 16HP clone in the box. I wanted to put the Duromax in the G1 so I ordered a new comet 40 series clutch for it. I hope it will hook-up with the secondary clutch ont the carts existing rear.

Looks good. Can't believe no one posted in this thread. Keep the pic's coming if you still do this build. Lots of room in the old Yamaha's.

Yep, I missed this thread too. Can't believe the 11hp didn't have any power or speed.
Must be something with the gearing. Keep the pics coming. That G1 looks as lifted as the one I have I made a lift for. Don't think that lift is what I'd want on one though. From what I can see. |

The engine is not sitting straight, look at the belt.

Yea I noticed that when I was looking again. Hope it's just setting in there and isn't bolted down at this point. Otherwise the guy has some changes to make indeed.
