Default What just happened to this battery?

Riding around neighborhood in our 2007 CC this afternoon and all of a sudden radio goes out and something under the seat starts sizzling. Lifted seat and last battery in sequence has a melted top post on positive. Only thing I saw was that the power wire to the radio and lights is attached to this post. Not sure if that matters. Too new of a member to post pic.

Bad connection will cause that. Sounds like you have an electric cart.

to BGW

Yes, a loose connection will cause a meltdown. A good rule of thumb is to check your connections every time you add water.

The more connections to a post , the more likely one of them will wiggle loose. It doesn't take much for it to go bad in a hurry.

Along the same thought, has anyone made a cable connector with an extra tail like some of the auto battery cables. Might be a good option for SOMEBODY that makes cable sets.
