Default Fouled Plug

I have a 94 DS, with FE290 motor , the plug is black . Not oily, oil level stays full. I adjusted carb. 1 1/2 turns out on mixture screw. Any ideas on what might be wrong ?

not really sure anything is wrong..what you didn't mention is if it ran ok with that plug? if not check the spark and then replace if its not right. Plugs usually get black at some level

Is it leaded? Unleaded will leave plugs black.

frequent starting and stopping and using the choke will darken plugs considerably. Engine must be run up to full operating tempature to burn off the dark deposits. If this is your type of driving, change to a wee bit hotter plug

I did a write up with basically the same symptoms as yours almost 5 years ago,

Click>>> http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...park-plug.html

Here in Wisconsin the only non-ethanol fuel we get is "premium" 91 octane,
now, granted... I have a few extra modifications on my cart that I thought "could be" the culprit,
but it all came down to using "regular" 87 octane w/ethanol (and Seafoam in the mix) to cure my black carboned plug!
