Default Started and wouldn't shut off???

1996 Club Car

I got the engine assembly back in the cart last night and hooked up the wiring.

I initially just wanted to check for spark so I cranked on it for a second and seen that I had spark, then hooked up the gas and plug wire and tried firing it.

Once I realized that the gas pedal was still not hooked up and moved the throttle with my hand it fired and ran. The trouble is, that it wouldn't shut off.

I turned the key off, then disconnected the battery thinking that it was just the starter, it only quit when I pulled the plug wire.

I stopped there and came in for the night, can someone give me a hint on where to look from here?

Thank you!

The engine kill circuit isn't hooked up!
There should be a White w/Black wire coming from your coil to the rev limiter, and then to your electrical components box,
one of the bullet connectors isn't connected. (either at the dip stick, or at the rev limiter)

As soon as you said white and black wire I remembered.

Thank you.

Are all of the ground straps connected?
There should be one at the S/G to the frame, and the front of the engine to the frame.
