Rear Seat Mounting Question

Gornoman,

All my bolts looked just like that. Is that seat the plastic version sold by Golf Cart King? That is the one I am leaning towards. They have a model where the seat foam thickness is increased from 3" to 4" and thicker deck plastic is used at 3/4". I don't know what the thickness of the standard deck is. I can get one of those for $355 including shipping. Unfortunately there is also tax since the company and I are both in Tx and I will have to buy factory canopy braces as mine or different for the Stretch Plastic Seat I have now. Other then the hardware issue, Are you pretty happy with it?

My seat was supplied when I purchased my cart. The bed is plastic, 3/4" thick. The hinge is aluminum. It has been trouble free other than losing the seat cushion on the highway. We use it a lot;

Tim, here is the spec. sheet. But just scanning your thread, can't you just weld in the expanded metal on your present seat? Also, the cushion is plywood under the foam and naugahide. But i sealed mine with fiber-glass reson, then installed it with 5/16" T-nuts.

Thanks for the update! I am going to make a version of this to fit my EZ-GO, but it will be based it off of your design. I will start from scratch and only use the seat cushions from my old setup. The thing that sold me on your idea vs buying an over the counter rear seat I that I have a group of friends that attend motorcycle rallies all over the states. Now days, more golf carts show up to these then Harleys. I often have 4 to 5 half drunken adults piled on the cart and I really like the "indestructibleness" of yours. You can see the abuse the rear seat gets from a picture I took of my friends cart at the Hawgs of Texas rally last year. One final question, what thickness of metal did you use?

Tim, If your talking about the expanded metal, I bet it is maybe 11 gage. It looks like the way you might use it, maybe you should go alittle bigger on all of it. Meaning 2" angle instead of 1 1/2" and so on. I've carried 2 ta 3 hundred pounds of rock on the back of mine, but that was just a few times.
Good luck, you'll enjoy the build anyway, more fun than just buying parts and screwing them on.

Thanks for all your input Mike. I'll keep you posted on my progress. I think I will slap the body back on the cart and make the rear seat before I paint. I currently have the body off, prepping it for paint.

I got started on the rear seat last weekend. This represents about 8 hours of work. It is all 3/16 steel, so it should be pretty sturdy. I still need to finish the flip seat frame this weekend and make a hitch.

Tp, that looks great! Better than mine. I was gonna do my corners at a 45*, but I figured I didn't have that much to gain. Anyway, I'm impressed!!
