Re: sluggish 88 ezgo
Check for leaking crankshaft seals. What's your compression?

Re: sluggish 88 ezgo
Compression will be lower than spec until the new rings get worn in. The seals are a possibility. Did it run ok before? Is the carb clean? Just a start

Re: sluggish 88 ezgo
When you clean your carb, make sure to clean also the bolt holding the bowl. The top of that small bolt pointing towards the main jet is a jet itself. Make sure it is not clogged.

Looks like you found your problem! Replace both crank seals and be on your way!

Re: sluggish 88 ezgo
if by "Breather" you mean "Air Cleaner", there are quite a few K&N style units out there that are universal and will open up things a bit ... There's been a bit of debate here on the forums about drawing air in from the engine compartment (which I think is just fine, given that the entire bottom of the cart is wide open) but bang-for-the-buck and ease of install-wise, I'd try and find a suitable K&N cone or a decent similar unit.
FWIW, though - keep in mind that unless you also open up your exhaust, there won't be an appreciable increase in power, etc by opening up the intake - a 2-stroke can only breathe in as much as it breathes out :) |

Re: sluggish 88 ezgo
Thanks for your help .Tonights project was opening up the muffler , that went well .I am gonna order the crank seals tomorrow. I took a trip up the road and it runs better but it cuts out and sputters at higher rpms . could that be the crank seals or another grimmlen ?
