My 89 blow a the the lower gasket at the bottom of the head so i was thinking that i might as well just buy a whole engine rebuild kit what do you think? also can you bore them out to gain power?

Default Re: it died

I think that I would make a compression test first. Replacing the gasket is just pennies, a top end kit will cost ~$200 and a full engine kit ~$400. Only you know how sound your engine feels. Reboring oversize isn't going to hurt anything so if you are going to do it then why noy go +50 but will it make a noticable difference? Probably not, much of the power output on a 2 cycle is related to the design of the inlet and outlet manifolds and the venerable little PG series is what it is.
