WOW!
I guess the point was, you can pull the head, check the piston and cylinder walls, then decide weather you need to pull the engine or simply replace the top end.
In either case, dont count on the oil injection. Pre-mix the gas

Do you reccommend doing away with the oil injection? Do I just disconnect it and mix the oil with the gas in the tank or is there more to it than that? I'm sure there's a post on here...

I would, disconnect it and plug the ends where the hose was. gas mix is 128:1 one ounce oil to one gallon of gas

So remove the oil tank and hoses!? YES! A weight reduction!!! lol I guess a fault in the oil injection is what causes these problems to begin with, eh? Thanks guys, I'll be sure to let you know of my findings! Is the head removable in the cart?

sad part is you don,t know oil injection is bad until its to late.......yes add your own oil mix..........i like amesoil its a simple 8 oz to 6 gal of gas no matter what the ratio is..............i use this on everything i own with a gas oil mix from golfcart to my boat motors and everything in between......have had 0 issues and have some engines running around that are 17 years old with the original sparkplugs in them and they don,t miss a beat......................

Well it definately was the piston and seized rings scuffed against the cylinder and I'm looking to do the crank seals but does anybody recommend where to get the seals from? I see GolfCarCatalog.com and BuggiesUnlimited.com has them.

The next question is how the big drum (clutch?) comes off the rear of the crankshaft to get to that seal? I see numerous posts but no pictures and I'm assuming this is the driven clutch? I would assume the bolt on the end would have to come out, left hand thread? I'm pretty mechanical but when I see warnings about taking it apart and bad things can happen then I just want to make sure!

Thanks folks, much appreciated. I'll get pics soon

Here is a good thread about clutch removal:

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/ezgo-...go-clutch.html

I couldn't find a puller, so did the rod (I actually used a bolt put in backwards) and 3/4" fine thread bolt method and it worked well.

The clutch actually came off surprisingly easy. The flywheel? Well, that's a completely different story.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!

And any suggestions where to buy the seals?

I generally use buggiesunlimited but the site sponsors are always ready and willing to help you determine what you need if you're not 100% sure - I'd start there
