g16 only runs when its choked
my g16 runs great but have too hold choke half open . i have replaced carb,fuel pump,piston rings ,spark plug,coil ,acts like its starving for gas when i let off choke and when warm it will run some with no choke but only half throttle.compression is 125 psi .any ideas ?

It has to be a problem with the carb. How come you replaced the carb instead of cleaning the original? If you still have the original carb, take it apart (every piece of it) and clean with carb cleaner. Try putting the stock carb back on and see if it fixed it. Maybe the new carb isnt adjusted correctly or has something wrong with it. If your cart was stalling then I would say it could be starving fuel from your fuel lines or fuel pump but I dont think thats the problem.
I just bought a 97 G16 and it was doing the same thing only running smoothly with half carb, I cleaned the carb and put it back and it is running perfectly now. I dont even have to pull the carb at cold-start now but usually do just to get her going. But it was a night and day difference after cleaning. |

If it has a carb spacer like on the G9 you might want to check that for a crack.

If you only got 125 psi with new rings, you got problems. adjust valves, seal air cleaner, then read this site, and start a thorough maintenance program on the car.

str8out,, i do have old carb back on but hadnt did a good dip or clean yet will do that today . when it did same thing i changed new one back to old one .will let know what happened after cleaning. thanks ....
honorstick,, i do have spacer and have already bought new one will install today ,thanks .. essness ,,,lol mike,, i replaced rings but did not bore or go larger on piston or rings ,,,its was smoking and this stopped it . i have a cone k&n air filter on it and ran great for years .not sure it would be filter, valves adjusted also .when it runs it runs strong ,thanks for input |

***update***
i replaced carb spacer and did a good clean on carb and it runs great . no more holding choke and it seems to run fine with the 125psi .thanks for the help !! |
