All sports lift kit problem
We have installed a all sports 4 inch lift in our G1 Yamaha cart. All went well however we have a bit of toe in with the front wheels. We tried adjusting tie rods but that just seems to mess with the steering. The steering also feels a bit light and loose but everything is tightened. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: All sports lift kit problem
First you need to find the center point of the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. Then turn it all the way to the right and count how many full rotations you get. Divide that in half and you have the center point of the steering wheel (don't worry about the front wheels being straight) Now adjust both tie rods so that the wheels point straight forward to match the steering wheel and have about 1/4 inch toe in (closer together in the front of the tires than in the back of the tires.

Re: All sports lift kit problem
You can also tighten most yamaha boxes there is a screw and nut on the box. Make sure it turns freely all the way left and right after you adjust, a worn box will get tight away from center it can't do that (when you adjust it tighter).
You mean toe or camber? The top of the tire can lean out. Note the front end is set up to have weight on it and can rise with nothing on it, then the top will come out because it is single arm. Really even the toe should be set with weight on it or had weight when last moved. If you back up and go forward and the tire lean changes much you may have too much toe, toe will push the tires apart or together going reverse/forward. Stock it will not much because the arm pivot is even with the spindle not above it. |
