rusted brace in front passenger frame? Do I need it?
I was tearing down the cart getting it all cleaned up. I took off the front plastic, and when it was all off. I noticed there is a brace going from middle of the cart to the passenger side frame. It is rusted, and just hanging loose. Does the brace do much of anything? It doesn't look like anything connects to it. Just goes from center frame to outer frame. There is not one on the drivers side. Should I look into having another one fabbed up, and welded in, or just cut it off of there?

Here are some pics. It doesn't seem like it would do a whole lot. I tried having someone jump on the frame, and rock it sideways, and it didn't seem like it shifted any.

Deerslayer, I had similar issues with mine. I went to my local sheet metal shop and had them bend a similar piece from scrap 12 ga. material and welded it in. If its there, theres a reason or at least thats my thought!

I would replace it for safety purposes.

I believe it's a support brace for the front cowl. Though you could get by without it, I think I'd do as abieex did and get a couple made or if handy, do it yourself and weld them in.

The inside of that brace is still strong. I was thinking of just welding an extension from the good part of that brace to the frame. I have got some scrap metal I could make work. That should work shouldn't it?

As long as you get back to good solid metal with plenty of overlap you should be good. Use a grinder and clean the old metal very well and try to weld front and back. In this case clean and oil free is your friend. Good luck.
