Uh oh, that's not what I wanted to hear...lol.
Soooo, what's next on the list?
Top end rebuild?

Certainly not wanting to fork out $1K for a new engine.
Any tips on what else I can try or replace?

Update....
loosened the exhaust manifold a bit and it fired up and ran.
Able to maintain WOT in the garage on the floor jack.
Took it out for a spin and it runs ok downhill but sputters badly going uphill.
Still has quite a bit of light colored smoke too.

What could cuase it to run good downhill but not uphill???

Barbeque the muffler
Mineral spirits are not hot enough to clean carb
did you use a wire or torch cleaners
to add a little humor, gravity will help it go down hill
