Yamaha G2 started running again and then quit
I finally got my G2 running again after months of frustration and parts buying. Saturday I found a burnt fuse and replaced it and the cart ran fine until yesterday. I took it on a long, 20 to 25 minute continuous, drive through the woods and as I was approaching a steep ditch I left off of the accelerator and then when I tried to get it restarted it wouldnt do anything. After a little while it would try to turn over the starter generator but not enough to actually start the cart back up. What could be the cause of this?? Please help with any and all advice!

Put a battery charger on it then hook up a multi meter with
some clips and go for a ride to see if it is charging. Messing with it for months you may have hurt the battery. |

Re: Yamaha G2 started running again and then quit
Sorry I failed to mention that it is a rather new battery and that should not be the issue but I did put a charger on it when I got back home yesterday and it still would not do anything more than it was doing where I was stuck! It would just barely turn over, maybe one revolution or two.

Did you check your brushes on the starter generator? If they are worn out they dont make good contact thus not allowing it to crank over or barely crank over. I had this happen on my g2 even with a fresh battery it would hardly crank the motor over.

Re: Yamaha G2 started running again and then quit
I have a new starter generator on it! That was one of my purchases to get this thing going! Should the starter generator get very hot when operating it? Hot to the touch? After it wouldn't start again for me I tried to feel around to see if anything was hot and that was pretty hot to the touch! If it is not suppose to be hot like that then what is causing that??

Re: Yamaha G2 started running again and then quit
Last night I put a charger on it and after several attempts and adjustments with the clamps on the battery posts it finally turned over with some umff but it would not fire off and after I let off the accelerator pedal it went right back to a weak problem again?? Could someone please help me diagnose this crazy thing?? Could it be the ignitor, the voltage regulator, or what????????

I would get a brush like this
And use it then pull the plug and check for spark. What voltage is the battery holding? |
