2006 / G-22 REAL JERKY then smooths out... HELP!!!
Hello Alll,
I have a 2006 4-stroke yamaha Model G-22.. I am having a problem when I go to take off from a dead stop the cart will jerk real bad but then once I get going it smooths out.. I was told that it was the rear end is shot but I am not buying that.. I really feel the problem is in the clutch.. Well today I decided to go and pull the clutch cover off the clutch and I notice one of the weights that swings out to the rollers was stuck up against the roller ( In Out Position), Got it free now and seems to work smoothly again... With the one weight stuck in the out position can this be the reason the jerky thing at take off was happening? I can't realy test it yet as I am waiting on a fuel pump in the mail.. Just trying to get some ideas on what else to check... Thanks for any advice/Help... Ant.... |

Yeah, that could be the problem. Check the rollers for flat spots and for anything that looks broken.

Re: 2006 / G-22 REAL JERKY then smooths out... HELP!!!
Man, I hope that does it..
I looked at the rollers and weights again, I cleaned everything.. Cant realy see any flat spots on the rollers, was little dirty tho.. I just cant see it being in the rear end , I would think if it was in the rear end it would be a real jerky ride the whole time your on it.... But it is only jerky when it gets started going.. If that does not do it I will get video of the prob.. Ill update once I get the fuel pump and carb back on and test drive it.. Thanks |

What kinda condition is the belt in?? My g29 had a vey work belt that was jerky on startup. Installed a new severe duty belt and all is good. But I'm betting your issue is those rollers in the clutch.

Thamks for the info...
Well my belt looks to be fine no cracks or anything that I can see...But if all is not good and still jerky when I test it, I may change it. I hooked up the battery and turned the motor over some and it seems the jerky is gone already, Think it was that weight in the clutch, But I wont know for sure till the parts I need come in the mail... Can I change just the rollers in the clutch? Again thx for the info... Ant... |

Re: 2006 / G-22 REAL JERKY then smooths out... HELP!!!
Hello ALl,
Got cart up and running yesterday.. Cart is 100% better, The big problem must have been that weight that was stuck in the out position.. Still has small jerkyness to it but much better then before.. I would like to replace the front and rear clutches.. On the front clutch should I just buy a roller kit? Or do I need to replace entire clutch? It looks to me as if the rollers are the only thing that would realy go bad in the clutch, but not sure.. I am new to the golf cart thing.. Thank you all. |

Your correct the only time I would consider replacing the entire clutch would be if the sheeve surfaces are so worn that the belt isn't grabbing or if the clutch is cracked or worn all the way through the surfaces. I would just remove them give them a thorough cleaning replace any worn part and apply new grease if you have the greasable clutches. Good luck.

Might as well order the "primary clutch puller tool" also. You'll need it to get the clutch assy off.
