I have my G9 looped to go to the clone carb linkage, it works fine, and yes it has been replaced in the last few years. I want to add another spring as the pedal goes down easily, I'd like it to go harder about half way on. But rather put it on the pedal so as not to wear the cable. I've also put G2/9 and a newer yamaha to the carb no problems. I loop the cable large as I can.

The old cable probably has a wear pattern in it, thats why its hangin up.

Lube the cable with a baggy rubber banded on and some liquid wrench followed by wd 40.
