Ezgo PDS won't engage
I have a 2008 ezgo pds cart. I ordered a new controller/solenoid combo today. I get home to go for a ride and The cart will not move forward or reverse. Just my luck!!! I can here the peddle engaging, but can't here the solenoid click. The cart also doesn't make beeping sound when reverse is selected. my wife took it for a ride around the neighborhood a couple days ago and everything was fine, but now it will not move.
I really want to get this figured out before my new controller comes in. Any ideas on what the problem could be? |

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
Hmm a couple days ago it was running. How are the batteries? How old? They may be bad/dead. Also on the controller cover there is a self diagnostic instruction chart, give that a try too. You may also have a bad solenoid possibly so try the test and check the batteries first

Do you have a multimeter? Can you test the pack for voltage?

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
The batteries are 2yrar old Trojan T105. I haven't had any trouble with them so far. They seem to hold a charge pretty well. I'll try diagnostic mode tonight. Think it could be key assembly?
I'll pick up a multimeter today too. |

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
Could be as simple as a bad fuse or fuse connection at main battery (+)

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
I checked my batteries today and they each measure between 6.1 and 6.2 volts. I tried to enter diagnostic mode several times, but it will not activate. Any ideas on what to check next?

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
What did you do to try to go into diagnostic mode?
You you have power at both sides of the fuse on the battery main + ? |

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
With key in off position, I went from neutral to reverse 5 times. I just checked the 60 amp fuse, and I got reading of 37.2v on battery side and 0 on the other side of the fuse. Going to get a fuse shortly, hopefully that will correct the problem.

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
yeah that would do it, that in line fuse on the main battery positive will go out on you although it does not happen that often.

Re: Ezgo PDS won't engage
That did the trick. I could only find a 100 amp fuse, rather than a 60. Will I be ok with 100 amp until I get a 60?
