Question Boost speed on 2017 Yamaha Drive2 48V DC

Hey guys. I’m new here. The quarantine encouraged me to buy my first golf cart. Got a 2017 Yamaha Drive2 48V DC. Good cart. Nothing fancy. Not lifted. Still got stock tires. It maxes out at 12 mph. Uphill, downhill, doesn’t matter. Always 12 mph. I’ve seen instructions for speeding up the gas powered versions - but nothing for the 48V DC powered carts. Any suggestions for getting a few more mph out of it that doesn’t cost a small fortune?
Thanks.

You can get it programmed by a dealer to go faster but IMO I would spend that money on a replacement controller. Alltrax xct400 and new solenoid. Will get you to low 20s easy and will be needed once you start adding more stuff..

Thumbs up Re: Boost speed on 2017 Yamaha Drive2 48V DC

A follow-up on this. I got the speed code installed today. $120. Also added 205x65x10 tires. Went from 12mph to 22mph. Really happy with it. I'll ride this until the motor or controller dies then go with Alltrax. Thanks for advice!

How did you get the speed code installed? I have a 2016 Drive (fleet) Yamaha.

had to take to a dealer and they used some sort of handheld computer. took them a while to figure it out. Had to call Yamaha to get it I think.
