Summarising the info in this thread.....

A lithium battery MUST be protected by a Battery Management System (BMS) or it will be unsafe to use.

The job of the BMS is to protect the cells from over and under voltage.

When the battery is fully charged by the non optimal charging system, the BMS will disconnect the battery to protect the cells.

At this point all the electrics will be exposed to the unfiltered output from the alternator.

The smoke will be released from said electrics.

Electrics require the smoke to remain inside to function.

Electrics with the smoke released will no longer function.

In America we refer to it as the “magic smoke”.

Once released into the wild it loses its magic. Magic things don’t work once they lose their magic
