Two 55watt H3 halogen wired in series off rocker switch.

Maybe that's why it worked for about 5 night rides at apx 45 min each ??

According to a lamp monograph I found on the net, here's what happens when you run a 12v lamp at 18V (150% of design voltage).
MSCD (Brightness) increases over 400%
Current draw increases by 130%
Life expectancy decreases over 10,000%

Don't know what the life expectancy of you bulbs are, but by my calculations, you've already got about 400 hours on them.

That sounds about right. On second attempt will try a 20 amp rocker switch and run the 12v $23.88 EverStart U1R-7 @ *

Everything Carts has 25A 36-12v converters for under $100. You're running lights now, but wouldn't it be cool to run taillights, cell phone charger, etc...

The 36v H3's sonicj mentioned are interesting.
I might go that route if I ever decided to put head lights on my cart and go the series (or series/parallel) route for other lighting and gadgets.
