I know for others it might be different. That's why a handheld digital temp gauge is a good idea. It's the only way to know the exact temp.

Just throwin' my $.02 in..
I agree. I have the Ex-Ray dash panel on my cart and it has motor temp. capability. Really nice to be able to know for sure what the temp really is. Harbor Freight runs those hand held temp guns on sale pretty often. I would have one so I could know for sure if I didn't already have the Ex-Ray.

I also have an ExRay. I still have mine set at their recommended 149° F and 167° F, even though the voltage warning they recommend is WRONG. They want to alarm me when my 48 volt pack hits 42 volts, or if a 36 volt pack hits 31.5. And that's just the Warning. Danger comes at 29 and 39.

If your running below 42 volts on a regular bases you are killing the batteries.
A 48 volt cart is dead at 48 volts.
I hope you have a low voltage shut off on it. This will burn a controller up also. This was what killed the DCS carts was the low voltage would burn the controller up and that's why most DCS carts are hated. The lower the voltage the higher the amp draw. Amps create heat and heat kills components!

Cart-Zilla,
I'm going to be working on carts all day once I get started. I'll be here. Got 4 carts in the garage right now!
