Default Slipping sound, motor winds but won't go?

Greenhorn here! FTP

I have a EZgo Electric & lifted. Not sure of year... ~ 2003 - 2005

I just started hearing a slipping sound when i try to go up the driveway & now it will barely move at all.

Is there a belt of some kind that connects the motor to the rear axle? It seems to me like belt stretch.

Thanks in advance

Check your hubs. Pretty common for them to strip, usually the driver's side.

To check your hubs remove hub caps, or anything else that covers the castle nut. Once you can see the castle nut hit the gas, if it's your hubs, you will see the castle nut turn, but not your tires. Good luck! Oh and be careful doing this test? Hubs may catch and cart may take off.

So as suggested, I removed the tire and castle nut (driver side) and pulled the hub. The hub appears fitted with a brass insert/spline that meshes with the spindle teeth. The brass insert/spline has been ground down with just a trace of teeth left.

Have I found the problem & do I need to check or replace the passenger side? And do I have to buy the entire hub or the brass insert/spline?

Thanks again for your replies.

Some one put the insert in. The original hubs don't have one. Here's a great fix to your problem:

Replacing the driver side hub seems to have fixed the problem.

For those of you who encounter a similar problem, I’ve attached photos of my damaged hub compared to a new hub.

Not sure if I attached the photos correctly

brake hubs are $40 to $60 each, unless you think for some reason the other hub was better taken care of or was used less, id replace both. (How could this be you ask, that is the point if one is junk the other is brobably not for behind)

or check this out $60 for both plus extra brake parts.

Not sure if that worked but go to page 2 of "golf carts and parts" Lost Husker has a set for sale - Ezgo Rear Brake Set.

(im not attesting to the quality of these, just offering them as an option.)
