Hooking up Voltage Reducer, Fuse Block etc. Need help!
I have a 2008 Club Car precedent that I have already done a lot of cosmetic upgrades. Lift Kit, Wheels tires, seat covers etc.
I am ready to tackle my first of the electrical upgrades to make my cart a little more reliable and user friendly. I have purchased the Mad Jax 48-12 volt reducer and I want that to go into a fuse block and hook my lights up to the fuse block. I also want to install a SOC meter as well. I guess my main question is how the hell do I hook all of this up? I have search this and other forums and haven't seen a comprehensive write up of all these different variables. Thanks in advance for the advice. |

You need to have a good understanding of how all the lights and meter works. With that knowledge you will be able figure out how to wire everything. There are u tube videos that will show how all this works. Different carts have wire harnesses where you just connect to the correct wires. Others you will need to run your own wiring and connections. Do a search on this site for lights and soc meters there has been quite a bit written about this topic.
I know this is not much help but maybe give you a start. |

Madjax comes with the wiring diagram on the reducer. Dont ground to frame ever in a electric cart. Soc is main + and main -
Put all - to a distribution block and all + to a fuse block think what you want to run and plan it out then run wires... instance neg to radio and lights can be one wire rather than two. |

This is a super crappy drawing I did on my 07 Precedent last week. I used a blue sea distribution/ fuse block and everything worked awesome.

Thanks for the drawing piston.
Where did you mount your converter? What wire of the key switch to you tap into? Also where does the SOC come into that diagram? Thanks. |

I mounted the converter behind the front bumper/headlight and just above it. Some say its a factory spot.....not sure. It fit perfect....its a relatively dry location given the trajectory of the tires throwing water and mud. Basically behind the "club car" emblem. Carts not here otherwise I would get you pics.
Take a multimeter to the key switch. There are two wires to it. Ones hot only when the ignition is on.....that's the one.....thus shutting the converter off when not using the cart. As for the SOC.....I don't have one but isn't there a factory harness for them? Plug and play? |

Re: Hooking up Voltage Reducer, Fuse Block etc. Need help!
The reducer that I bought only has 2 wires in and out. a Pos and a Neg from the battery packs and a Pos and a Neg from the reducer on. I was planning to connect directly from the 2 ends of the battery chain to the reducer and from there to my fuse block, is that not correct? These drawings seem to show that you should go from Pos on batteries to the reducer but the neg does not go directly to the reducer.
Sorry for the stupid questions. |
