The Starter LIVES.....

Blew out the carbon and changed up the brushes location because of the uneven wear. Jumped it and it motored right up. It was weak but at least I knew it had life in her.
So, tore her back down and finally managed to muscle and pry off the tail end. Took the emery paper to the cooper armature area and it cleaned up real nice.

Only concern is that it does have a really pronounced wear pattern were the brushes sit. I guess eventually a new armature will be needed.

Anyways, put her back a second time and jumed it. WOW, did it run strong.
Finally some life in at least one of the parts on this cart.

Didn't get a chance to get the new solenoid, but of course, I threw it all back together just to see if it would work. Sure Enough, NOTHING.

Hope to pick up the new solenoid tomorrow. I will also change out the micro switches since I am at it.

Hope all goes well, and thanks thus far......

If you access to a lathe, you can skim the commutator to an even configuration. The wear is due to to the contact area and pressure of the brushes.

As Tom pointed out, you will need a specific solenoid, CC use a permanent duty item and a regular auto solenoid is a switched duty. An automotive item will burn out real fast since it's not designed to carry a load for extended periods of time.

Glad you got her running. It's a good feeling when a plan comes together isn't it ?

OH YEAH!!!!! She is ALIVE.........

Changed the solenoid and the switches and after a good half a minute of the motor turning over and seeing the gas flow throw the new fuel filters, the Cart Started right up.

It blew a bunch of gunk all around (like rust and dirt and stuff), had a bit of smoke to her for a few seconds and she is a running.

Took her around the block and noticed a strong gas smell when I parked her.

Started her up to check it out and noticed that when reving the engine, gas is flowing out of the drain hose of the carb.
She runs fine, or at least I think she does, but I guess I need to fine tune her a bit.

Could this symtom of gas flowing out the drain tube be due to an over adjustment to the carb by the PO?

A mutual friend stated that every time the cart would die or bogg out, the po would pop the seat and make an adjustment to the carb. He did not maintain it properly nor clean the carb when he had it but rather adjusted it.

How can I reset the carb adjustments to the proper setting? Any advice?
I will search this as well but value direct advice.
