Default Silly newbie question...ds vs precedent...???

I really hate to ask this question, but I'm curious...

What's the difference/benefit of the ds over the precedent or visa versa...???

I can certainly understand why there are gas and electric carts, however, in an age where companies attempt to reduce parts inventory and selection, why does club car build/offer the two different models...what's the benefit of one over the other ??? Just scratchin' my head and wonderin'...???

The Precedent is the only cart currently made by CC, DS production seized in 2012. Both are great carts...

Unfortunately the DS isn't built anymore. I think they built two to provide different options for consumers. I think the DS was aimed for more of a fleet type use while the Precedent is designed for fleet use but also for personal carts, not just used for golf

The DS car was built for people in 1980. The Precedent was built for people in 2004. The Precedent is newer, plain and simple. Never styling, newer technology, better impact resistance in a collision, easier to work on. The ride quality of a Precedent is far superior to the DS as well. I'm a 100% Precedent fan all the way. I like the DS, but I absolutely love the Precedent and wouldn't consider anything else. But, that's just my opinion.
