King Pin Bushings
Sorry if this has been covered but, i've searched and come up with nothing. I jacked up my frontend and noticed that the passenger side wheel dropped down. Looks like the lower bushing is shot.
Is it very hard to replace the bushings? I've seen the bushings sold and loaded spindles. The spindles are expensive. Where is the best place to order parts? Thanks, Hop |

Re: King Pin Bushings
Thanks!
I also noticed that there are no grease zerk's in the spindle. Just an open hole where one should have been. It looks pretty rusty so i'm not sure if i can get a zerk to even screw in. They have never been greased is probably why their worn. Any special tools needed to pres the bushing in? Or will a socket work? I read somewhere where the bushing needs to be bored or reamed out. |

Re: King Pin Bushings
Well, I got around to ordering parts and went to replace the pin bushing.
The part i got was smaller in diameter and shorter. So i put everything back together again. While assembling it back together i had the idea of trying to tighten up the kingpin bolt and it fixed my slop problem. Everything is tight and works like a champ! So I have $30 in part i don't need. On to the next issue, The spindle has a hole where a grease zerk should be installed but, it's not drilled all the way through or tapped. Is this common?? I greased everything real good when I put it back together. |
