Power Drive 3 Charger question
Greetings all,
I am the new owner of 15' Club Car XRT 850 Electric. I feel the charger for it is LOUD but I have no reference to compare to because this is my first cart. Its has a fairly loud hum/buzz that if I was to work in the garage while the cart charged, I wouldn't want to listen to that noise. Is this normal operation? My buddy's charger for his 36V "Star" is quiet. |

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
there are loud chargers and loud chargers
power drive 3 should not be that loud, most are louder at start then dull down as they charge if your cart was bought this year i'd call the dealer before opening up the charger BTW TO BGW |

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
Yea, I've been meaning to take it by the dealer. Just thought I'd get some opinions here. I've only used the charger 3 times.

My old lester sounds like you could weld underwater with it...I took it apart and tried to shim/jam things in there, which did work , for a short while....

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
The PD3 is considerably louder than the PD2, but it shouldn't be annoyingly loud.

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
I have mine on a shelf inside my building. I can hear it outside even with the door closed. This is partly because the sound telegraphs through the wall because of the shelf's attachment.

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
FYI,
You need to keep the charger in a well ventilated area and allow plenty of room for it to breathe. The PD3 chargers get extremely hot and if the air can't move they'll start to have issues. |

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
I have a PD3 charger that I got with a used cart. It was working fine until recently. Before it would keep the batteries charged for days or weeks.
Now it charges the batteries when I initially plug it in and turns off and never comes back on. Before I assume it turned on and off as the batteries needed to trickle charge. Anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks |

Re: Power Drive 3 Charger question
it does not have a float charge
it shuts off and you have to unplug it and re plug it for it to start your cart just sitting looses up to 7% pack voltage a week so 1 week is not bad but not more than 2 |
