Default Release gas pedal and it stops hard

All, took an 2002 club car - lifted and upgraded controller and motor 4 years ago. All was good until last weekend at hunting camp. First it would not go into reverse - have buzzer but would not move. Went forward, but then it was laboring a bit. When I released the gas pedal it stopped hard- liked I locked up the break. Then it would not go forward. Only lunge without moving. Batteries are good.

Pulled break drums off and don't think that they over tightened. Still no reverse.

I am not an electrician and do not have the cart near me. Looking for any advice on these symptoms. Need to get it running for hunting season..

Thanks in advance.

Start checking voltages at the controller main harness plug. (obviously after the most basic tests are performed) Sounds like the controller is saying no by your first comments, but the lunging thing doesn't really fit.

It sounds like your regen braking is set on harsh. But that can't be changed without a programmer.
Did you try to push it by hand?

Sounds to me like something is wrong inside the motor.
