Re: Just bought a used buggy. Have questions
Adding to Sir Nuke's list.
5. How much ground clearance do you actually need? Increasing tire height reduces the amount of torque where rubber meets road. Lifting the cart's body off the axles raises the cart's center of gravity and makes it more susceptible to rollovers. |

Re: Just bought a used buggy. Have questions
Great score on the price. I've got a good friend who built one just like it in Army Olive drab green with camo and black seats for hunting and he loves it.

Ground clearance isn't a huge issue but I would need to be able to roll over small trees that are laid over. I have a friend on my lease who has a buggy with a 6" lift and 23" tires. I've rode with him a few times and his is about perfect height. He said he wishes he would have gotten Jakes long travel kit as his kit rides really rough. Question* if I were to get Jakes long travel kit, would I also need to buy HD rear kit or does it including spacers or bushings to lift the rear as well? |

I do know that taller tire take more torque to turn than shorter tires, so you have to build a drive system with more torque to offset the loss. |

Re: Just bought a used buggy. Have questions
The trouble with a long travel front end is they are much smoother than the rear springs.
So you speed along because the front end is smooth only to get constantly kicked in the ash by the springs in the rear. LT front end is a big improvement but you can't utilize it until the rear is LT also IMHO. |

Re: Just bought a used buggy. Have questions
Thanks, yeah I know absolutely nothing about carts and the electrical system so I am reading as much as possible to try and get a basic grasp of it. I will take plenty of pictures this weekend once I get my hands on it of the electronics so I can see what it actually has. I know it has an upgraded controller, just not sure what it is yet.
