2010 Club Car battery conversion
My 2010 Club Cart has 4 12 volt batteries. I need to replace the batteries soon and have been told that the battery bay will accommodate 6 8 volt batteries. Is this true? What would the advantage be in doing so. I've talked with three different people and received 3 different opinions. I do trust this forum more than the 3 guys I asked so I will be anxious to hear from the experts hear. Also cost wise what would the difference be and do I need to change any else out?

Re: 2010 Club Car battery conversion
Yes, CCFanatic, I do have a President with a Phantom body on it. I have read here on this forum that 6 8volt batteries is the way to go. More lead more run time and longer life of the pack. This is my first 48 volt cart and have never really priced the 12 volt vs the 8 volt batteries. I know that I would need extra battery cables and tie downs. Would I need to change anything else? Thanks for your speedy reply

As far as I know it's just those two items that need to be addressed

Re: 2010 Club Car battery conversion
Like CCFanatic said, for the 2008.5+ Precedents, You need (2) new hold downs:
(2) - OEM Part number - 103374801 - Battery Hold Down Prec. i2 6x8VWhen You remove the 12v batteries, there are some plastic tabs on the bottom of the Tub that You need to pull OFF so the 8v batteries fit. This is how the 8v batteries are placed in the tub: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...ompartment.jpg The cable lengths are approximately: 2 - 18 inch |

Those are my passive voltage by-pass devices used to help keep the batteries equalized.
