03 36v ezgo torque question
Got a lifted cart with bigger tires that we use at the race track to push the car through the pits. Its a 36v with upgraded wiring kit and alltrax 400 controller. Its dont have enough torque to push the car up any hills. The car is about 2600 lbs. What can i do to make the torque strong enough to push it up the hills if needed. thanks a lot

Re: 03 36v ezgo torque question
1. Put shorter tires on it.
2. Upgrade to a 42V or 48V battery pack. 3. Install a High-Torque motor. Stock tire height is 18" and anything taller than that reduces the available torque where rubber meets road. If the high-current cables and solenoid weren't upgraded when controller was upgraded to 400A, that is costing you torque. Also, how is the battery health? What drive system does he cart have? |

Re: 03 36v ezgo torque question
The stock 2.5 hp motor can make 30% more speed and torque on 48v but, it was designed for two people to play golf on small tires.
The cheapest way to gain torque would be to put stock tires on it. You would probably gain about 20-25% right there. The best way to do this is to go with the D&D 8 hp high torque 4:1 motor and a 500a control. LOL - Johnnie beat me to it . Welcome to BGW |

Re: 03 36v ezgo torque question
The solenoid and cables were upgraded when the controller was upgraded, battery health is good. If I downsized tires how hard would it be since it had the lift kit on it? The cart was this way when we bought it. And how hard is it to convert from 36 to 48

Tires are easy, will just have lots of open fenderwell. Voltage upgrade is about $1000 hard, assuming you can use the same motor.

Re: 03 36v ezgo torque question
Quote:
To go to 48V you need a 48V battery pack plus a 48V battery charger, and a solenoid that will run at 48V, The Alltrax controller works at 48V as well as 36V, or 42V. If you go with six 8V batteries, you will most likely need new cables to connect the batteries since both terminals on 8V batteries are on the same side and the existing ones connecting the 6V batteries may not be long enough. |

Re: 03 36v ezgo torque question
Another option is adding 2 more 6v batteries in the rear bagwell. Eight 6v makes 48v. Charge with 36v and a 12v charger until you win some money racing
